Council Officers


Minority Business Council is an affiliate of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. Its mission is to provide a "network" of minority business owners and professionals a forum for receiving information regarding public and private sector opportunities. Additionally, the MBC provides professional programs to develop the educational, technical, marketing, sales, and management skills of minority-owned businesses.  For more information on how to become involved in the MBC, email Kim Farquhar, Business Councils Manager.

Women's Business Council is an affiliate of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. Its mission is to promote economic development, professional growth and networking opportunities for businesswomen in the metropolitan area.  For more information email Kim Farquhar, Business Councils Manager.

Meeting schedule: Regular meetings of theWBC are usually held at noon on the last Thursday of each month at the Petroleum Club, 416 Travis Street, downtown. The price is $18 per person with reservation and $20 without reservation. For reservations click here.  The deadline for reservations is at noon on the Tuesday prior to the meeting.

Member Connection

The Diplomats serve as the Membership Retention Committee of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce.  The Diplomats volunteer their time and resources to sustain a year-round retention program that involves making personal visits and follow-up telephone calls to Chamber Members to establish strong relations between the Chamber and the Member.  The Diplomats promote membership retention by identifying member concerns and relaying that information to the Chamber and garnering support for the Chamber’s program of work.  The Diplomats serve at the pleasure of their employer and are required to follow and guidelines and meet the expectations as outlined herein to remain in good standing as a Diplomat. Council Officers

The Hispanic Business Council (HBC) of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce works to raise the awareness of our region's hispanic business community and to promote initiatives supporting the development of new and existing hispanic-owned businesses. Participation in the HBC is exclusive to members of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. No additional dues are assessed for participation; however, reservations are required and a fee is collected to cover the cost of the meal served at the meeting. HBC meetings are held quarterly. The Legislative Policy Committee
 recommends positions that are in the best interest of the Chamber and/or community, as a whole, to the Chamber Board of Directors on state and federal policy and legislative issues.  
     To get involved:
Volunteers must be Chamber members. Experience in legislative matters would be helpful. There is no limit to the number who can participate.

The Transportation Committee recommends policy and positions to the Chamber Board of Directors on transportation related issues including highways, air, rail and water transportation issues. The committee also serves as an advocate with various government and elected officials to accomplish transportation related goals as established by the Chamber Board of Directors. 
     To get involved:  Volunteers must be Chamber members and must have some experience in transportation or legislative matters. There is no limit to the number that can participate.For more information on the above committees, contact Lindy Broderick, Sr. Vice President of Public Policy.
YPI Advisory Council     
     The YPI Advisory Council oversees the Young Professionals program of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce.  This Initiative networks Northwest Louisiana business executives and community leaders under the age of 40.  The YPI offers innovative ways for young professionals to socialize and expand their professional horizons.  The group also addresses community issues impacting the attraction and retention of Young Professionals.  To be added to the YPI Interest Group and to learn more about YPI Action Teams, email FeFe Daniels, Membership & Marketing Assistant.  To learn more about the YPI and upcoming events click here.
