The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce is a proud supporter of the cultural community in northwest Louisiana.  These organizations continue to enhance the quality of life throughout our region and provide experiences to remember.  Whether you are looking for art, movies or a musical experience, we encourage you to patronize and support the many cultural offerings in our community. 

 

Artspace — Artspace is Shreveport’s First Arts Center dedicated to the Creation, Production, Presentation, Promotion and Exploration of all of the art disciplines and forms for multi-generational audiences. Artspace is not a museum or a gallery, rather it is a place where the public can connect to the arts in wonderful, new, and exciting ways.

Robinson Film Center— The Robinson Film Center provides a venue for independent, international, and classic cinema while serving as a resource for film production and media education. In addition to daily film programming, they offer film and media production classes for all ages and provide a variety of resources and facilities to the region’s burgeoning film industry. 

Shreveport Symphony Orchestra — For sixty-four seasons, the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra (SSO), a regional orchestra, has been presenting high quality live symphonic performances to the citizens of North Louisiana, East Texas and South Arkansas.  As Louisiana’s oldest, continuously operating orchestra, the Shreveport Symphony continues to fulfill its mission “…to enhance the cultural life of communities it serves by providing high-quality artistic performances and diverse educational opportunities…”

Shreveport Opera — Currently celebrating its 63rd season, Shreveport Opera proudly presents The Merry Widow (October 29, 2011), La Tragedie de Carmen (February 4, 2012), and Madama Butterfly (March 31, 2012) at 7:30 p.m. at the Riverview Theater in Downtown Shreveport.  Annually, the Shreveport Opera Xpress (SOX) program tours to schools, children’s hospitals, libraries, retirement centers and other venues, reaching approximately 50,000 children. Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet — The Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet was founded in 1973 to promote and preserve the art of classical ballet in our community. As one of the oldest arts organizations in Shreveport-Bossier, the Ballet has strived to present full-length classical ballet performances at affordable ticket prices, while providing a venue for local dancers to perform and train with professional choreographers and dancers.

Shreveport Little Theatre – Shreveport Little Theatre, founded in 1922, is possibly the oldest continuously producing Community Theater in America, as the theatre produced without interruption throughout the Great Depression and World War II, and after two fires, longevity unprecedented in contemporary community theatre.

The Strand Theatre – The Strand Theatre, built in 1925, is the Official State Theatre of Louisiana and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This restored historic theatre continues to be the home of the best, highest-quality entertainment throughout the decades including top touring Broadway productions, concerts, and comedy shows.

Theatre of the Performing Arts of Shreveport — Established in 1975, Theatre of the Performing Arts of Shreveport has been a pioneer in promoting positive representations of African-American culture through innovative programming in theatre, dance, music, visual arts, history and literature, as well as artist visits in the performing and visual arts.
