The primary mission of the GPC is to increase the number of federal, state and local government contract dollars being awarded to businesses located in this region of the state, thereby creating and retaining jobs. In 2005, the GPC assisted local businesses with obtaining over $109 million in government contracts..

A variety of workshops were offered covering the basics of doing business with the government to how to write winning proposals and subcontract with prime contractors. Luncheon Keynote Scott Denniston, VA Director of the Office of Small Business and Center for Veterans Enterprise encouraged small businesses to take advantage of the services offered by a Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) such as the Northwest Louisiana Government Procurement Center (GPC) located at the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. Connecting with the Chamber’s GPC first helps businesses to better prepare and avoid the common mistakes made in proposal content, as well as, identify agencies and prime contractors accepting proposals for their products and services.
