INFLUENCING LEGISLATION
The Chamber provides a full-time lobbyist to monitor the legislature and provide information to Louisiana delegates on the federal, state and local levels concerning matters of interest to our members. The Chamber has created the committees outlined below to obtain input from our members and to review proposed legislation impacting area businesses.
LEGISLATIVE POLICY COMMITTEE
The Legislative Policy Committee of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce has the responsibility to review and make recommendations to the Chamber Board of Directors on legislative policy and positions affecting business or the Northwest Louisiana community. Proposals for bond elections, potential new taxes, state and federal legislation are examples of issues delegated to this committee.
Participation on this committee is limited to Chamber members only. The committee seeks participants who have general knowledge of the political and legislative process. Committee members are asked to recommend positions that are in the interest of the entire Chamber membership and not exclusive to single/special interest issues. The committee also works toward a balance of members who represent the diverse businesses who make up the entire membership of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. Membership on this committee must be approved by the committee chairman. Contact Lindy Broderick at 318-677-2520.
TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
The Transportation Committee of the Greater Shreveport of Commerce is the advocacy arm of the Chamber for transportation related projects such as highway infrastructure, water, rail and air. The committee meets quarterly and is a roundtable for discussion and ideas. The committee reports to the Chamber Board of Directors and is limited to Chamber members.
