Senator David Vitter expresses concerns on national issues today in Shreveport.

U.S. Senator David Vitter addressed Northwest Louisiana concerns today at a luncheon hosted by the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and other regional chambers. With the challenges arising in Washington, Senator Vitter welcomed a time for questions and answers for those in attendance at today’s luncheon.

“Immediately after ObamaCare was rammed through Congress against the will of the people, I filed legislation and forced a vote in the Senate to repeal the government takeover of heath care and free Americans from its taxes and mandates, weakened Medicare program, and government-controlled health insurance,” Vitter stated. Many concerns have surrounded Americans concerning the Health Care Reform legislation that was passed last week. The Shreveport Chamber of Commerce has been committed to opposition of this since last year; Chamber leadership has been joining forces in Washington, D.C. to lobby against the passing of this vital legislation. Vitter closed with, “I’ll continue to fight to repeal ObomaCare and replace it with step by step common sense reform.”

Senator Vitter briefed attendees on his support of Northwest Louisiana jobs. His help in securing the $4 million for a collaborative effort between Barksdale AFB and the Cyber Innovation Center will continue to help strengthen our national security and defense assets against cyber attacks, while creating a strong sustainable economic boost for our state.

Vitter added his strong commitment to Northwest Louisiana concerning I-49 North and seeing the completion of that through the highway appropriations in federal funding, and also keeping a watchful eye on energy costs and issues surrounding the Haynesville Shale.

The event was hosted by regional chambers of commerce: Greater Shreveport, Springhill-North Webster, Bossier, DeSoto, Minden-South Webster, & African-American.
