Legislators visit shreveport businesses

The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and the Bossier Chamber of Commerce partnered to bring President of the LA State Senate John Alario and speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives Taylor Barras, as well as Senator Eric LaFleur and Representative Cameron Henry to Shreveport this week. The four men were highlighted at the 2017 Legislative Summit at the Municipal Auditorium on Tuesday but spent the remainder of their time touring the area.

The legislators began their morning with a briefing at the Port of Caddo-Bossier before moving on to a personal tour of the Ronpak facility located at the Port. They were able to learn about the beginnings of the Port, its mission and the vision for the future. While at Ronpak, the group was able to see firsthand how the wrappers and bags for multiple fast-food franchises are made, right here in Shreveport!

After the luncheon at the historic Municipal, the group traveled to Barksdale where they met with base commanders, learned what's unique about the base, and climbed inside a B-52 for photos.

Wednesday morning, their tour continued and concluded in Mansfield where legislators met with the superintendents for Caddo, Bossier, Desoto, Red River and Sabine parishes.

The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce would like to thank Senator John Alario, Representative Taylor Barras, Senator LaFleur and Representative Henry for their time and attention to Northwest Louisiana. We would also like to thank Representative Larry Bagley for his assistance in making this trip possible. Thank you to Senator Barrow Peacock and State Representatives Raymond Crews and Dodie Horton for their participation in the tours, as well.
