The story behind The Ellington is as meaningful as the events held within its walls. Created with love, legacy, and celebration in mind, the venue is named in honor of Dr. Joseph “JC” and Lurline Ellington—a couple whose life together was built on service, creativity, and deep-rooted family values.
Dr. Ellington served the Rayville, Louisiana community for decades as a beloved family physician, Army veteran, and the long-time coroner of Richland Parish. He also co-founded the area’s first medical clinic. Lurline, a registered dietitian and gifted artist, brought warmth and artistry into every space she touched. Together, they raised four children and shared a life rich in purpose and grace.
Their legacy lives on through The Ellington—a space created to bring people together, just as they so often did in their own lives.
