SHREVEPORT, La. — The Greater Shreveport Chamber and Caddo Parish Public Schools (CPPS) launched Caddo Works in fall of 2025, to connect local businesses with middle and high school students for hands-on career exposure across Caddo Parish.
The initiative gives students earlier exposure to real workplaces while helping local employers connect with the skilled workforce the region needs. Caddo Works serves as a clearinghouse for guest speakers, facility tours, job shadowing, and internship and cooperative education placements.
“Caddo Works is about preparing our students for what’s next while showcasing the real opportunities that exist right here in Northwest Louisiana,” said Dr. Tim Magner, President of the Greater Shreveport Chamber. “We are encouraging all businesses across the Parish to step up and help inspire the next generation to see their future here.”
“We want all of our students to begin exploring their direction for life after high school as early as elementary and middle school,” said Mr. Keith Burton, Caddo Schools Superintendent. “To do that, we need businesses from across our community to engage, whether that’s as a speaker, with a tour or as an internship site.”
Businesses of any size can get involved in up to five ways: serving as guest speakers, hosting facility tours, supporting job shadowing and career days, participating in cooperative education, or offering internships.
The Caddo Parish Schools Workforce Department is in the process of scheduling engagement opportunities and internship experiences for the 2026-2027 school year. The Chamber is encouraging all businesses to sign up to be included in the 2026-2027 activities.

Since its founding in 1910, the mission of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce (GSCC) has been to promote economic prosperity, serve as a business advocate, and celebrate the achievements of the Shreveport-Bossier region. With over 1000 members, the GSCC is designated as a 5-Star Accredited Chamber by the US Chamber of Commerce, one of less than 2% of Chambers across the country honored with this distinction.
